1st XI Crowned Champions

Sanderstead 1st XI have taken the title in Surrey Open League Two, after second-placed Wanderers were held to a 2-2 draw against Barnes 4s on Saturday 28th March 2009

Sanderstead captain Martyn Avery said, “We said from the start of the season that our objective was to win the league, and we are thrilled to have done so.  The whole squad deserves credit for working so hard throughout the campaign, and being willing to practise and implement our tactics.  I think special mention should go to our coaching duo – Denzil Dolley and Mark Hunnisett – for the commitment they have shown to the squad and the club.

“Our focus is now on preparing ourselves for the challenges of next season at a higher level.  We do not intend to be also-rans in Surrey Division Two – our aim once again will be promotion
